We have a committee, but this copy is often

generated at short notice when the magazine

is overdue and empty.

This is not the way forward as it is unlikely to

produce the high quality, in depth articles that

we have featured in the past and that our readers

have come to expect, nor will it produce the more

practically based, constructional articles as

these take time to develop. The BATC also realise

that constructional articles are not cheap, not only

in the component costs, but also the development

costs where materials may have been purchased

but are not part of the final article.

To this end we have set a small budget aside to

reimburse CQ-TV contributors for construction

articles, and to encourage and assist them to

develop constructional projects for ATV, in

particular those involving beginners or newcomers

to ATV.

Chris Smith, the CQ-TV editor, is in charge of

this budget and has set the rate at £50 per page

as it appears in CQ-TV. If you have an idea for

a project that you are capable of designing and

feel it is what is needed by ATV constructors,

please contact Chris in advance of any work.

Being a small club with no salaried staff, we

cannot pay for every page of CQ-TV but being

an amateur organisation we still believe and

hope that copy will come from our members.

This was a difficult decision for the committee

to take, nobody wants to generate costs that

will ultimately be paid for by the members, but

in the present circumstances we feel we have

no other option but to take this step to keep

CQ-TV at the leading edge of Amateur Television.

The rules we have set out for payment are as follows;

·         The articles must be related to ATV

         (editor’s discretion).

·         You must own the copyright for the article

and any images used. Submission and

publication is deemed to give the BATC

permission to use all or part of the work

in any way, in current or future publications.

·         The article must have not previously

        been published.

·         The article must be about something that

can be home constructed and provide

        sufficient detail to allow successful

        completion of the project.

·         Any related components, PCB’s,

programmed chips, etc., shall be made

available exclusively to the BATC for its

members through the BATC shop (unless

        previously agreed otherwise).

·         The editor reserves the right to edit any material.

·         BATC will pay £50 per printed page

(£25 per half page) after publication.

·         This offer is available to everyone.

·         Non members will be deemed to have

applied for membership and will receive

      1 year’s complimentary cyber membership

to run from the date of the successful

      publication of their article.

We would also like to recognise the hard work

and efforts that all our contributing members

make, so we have decided to award a free year’s

Cyber membership to the contributor of any

article that is accepted for publication, but

doesn’t meet the full requirements for payment,

e.g. non constructional articles.

News from Ken W6HHC

-----------------------

Hi Bryon N6IFU,

The TAPR Digital Communications Conference

was held September 24-26 in Portland, OR.

Robbie-KB6CJZ and I presented another talk

on Digital-ATV called:

 ^ Testing a Digital-ATV Station using DVB-S

The TAPR Digital-ATV presentation by Robbie-

KB6CJZ and I went very well....and appeared to

be well-received...the audience had good

questions.  Our testing results demonstrate that

DATV really does produce higher-quality video

than analog-ATV under adverse path conditions!!

We both made the PowerPoint presentation

remotely from the comforts of our homes to the

TAPR DCC audience in Portland (using SKYPE

and Adobe-ConnectNow). We have determined

that COAR is the first RACES group in the

nation to be using Digital-ATV in its exercises.

The entire PowerPoint file is available on the

OCARC web site at

www.W6ZE.org/DATV/

room apartment, consists or 100 Watts transmit on

434 with a 25 Ele Beam Vert. polorized and a 4 ft

believe it is mostly caused on the hill interference

on 432 . I don't think there is much they can do to

help and we are not allowed to even use 432 with

Point Loma because of the military location.I have

a P5 picture from Santiego most of the time Bottom

line I think the solution  is 1,.2 any thoughts what kind
