New TechTalk DATV Article

on DATV Field Tests

Hi Bryon N6IFU,

This month Robbie-KB6CJZ and I wrote a new DATV

article for our local Orange County ARC newsletter.

The article is called....

TechTalk87 – DATV Testing Report – Part 4 (Field Testing)

as our field testing shows!!  Especially under adverse path

conditions. Our Testing Report describes a RACES Drill

conducted in the City of Orange where the quality of DATV

on 1.2 GHz far surpassed the quality of previous analog-ATV

field tests using 440 MHz.

This DATV article can be found at the OCARC WEB site at

I thought you and your readers might be interested. Ken W6HHC

Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters

1. Establish link from Mt. Potosi
Mt  Wilson:

Saw testing on 3/21/10.on 434 MHz and it was working
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a

good idea to sweep the 1200 MHz antenna at the same

    time as well.

3. 3 GHz output could be installed anyday 6/15/10.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)

(Removable requested buy the Palomar Amateur Radio Club and KC6UQH in 2007)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Find intermittent receive problem for link from Oat Mtn..(1/24/09)

4. Resolve problems with WiFi getting into receiver for Snow Peak

    & Point Loma (April 28, 2009)

Snow Peak:

1. 2.4 Ghz input is operational but has audio problems due to

receiver problems on the network hub.. July 23, 2009

2. The 1200 MHz output does work and you can watch.

3. Get repeater back on the air.

Point Loma, W6RDF: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

   Trustee Robert Swain, KA4JSR

1. Off the air do to AC problems at the shack.

2. 434 input unuseable (4/03.01)

Letters to the Editor

^ Other ATN Chapters

Do the other chapters of ATN also ignore FCC rules and

partisapate in the kind of things ATN-CA does?

I don't know. I have never spent much time watching their

streaming videos. The ATN website has a list of contacts

for the other chapters. In the past I found that several of the

addresses were no longer good. Maybe you will have better

luck. The Editor

I think ATN should change it's name. It can't be considered

Amateur Radio because of what it has been doing for years.

I would like to be the first to put out a good name before

someone else sayes it.  CB-TV is a perfect fit.

Call Sign

I turned on my ATV receiver on Saturday July 3rd and at

6:33 PM Pacific time Dave keyed up his transmitter and

said K6DPS. As clear as day he said K6DPS. I laughed

and laughed and laughed.

I heard Dave talking over the weekend and he said that

he always pronounces the A in his call sign but you

just can't hear it. The Editor

^ Viewer Discretion Advised

Here is some advise for Mike Collis. You need to

post a "Viewer Discretion Advised" disclosure

on your repeater ID's at once. People need to

know what they can expect from your ATN ATV

Something like,

Viewer is Discretion Advised

The ATV repeater you are watching could contain

Nudity, Objectionable and/or Obscene Language,

Rascal Remarks and Hate Speech.

And you should also put a disclosure on the Home

page of the ATN web site. People need to know

what they are getting into.

It's to bad that you have lost control of your repeaters

and are unable to control your repeater users.

You shouldn't have let it go on all these years.

You should really just turn off the repeaters and

be done with it. I can't see this coming out

very well................

Thank you Bryon and keep up the great work

with the Newsletter.

Sounds like you boys have reinvented Citizen Band.

You should be very proud of yourselves.

^ The Purse

I saw someting a couple years ago on the ATN-CA

repeaters that I think you will find interesting.

It was in the morning when I tuned into the stream

for the ATN-CA and found three guys involved in a

conversation. They began talking about a kind of

coin purse and were refering to it as a P**** Purse.

The incomplete word is a crude word used to

discribe a vigina.

They contintuied to talk about the P**** Purse and

started making viginas with their hands and fingers.

I coudn't understand why I was seeing this on ATV and

then it got worse. They all started doing other things with

their fingers and then they started making sounds.

Sounds and saying Waaa. Waaa which they said is

the sound a vigina makes.

I couldn't beleave what I saw. Was this a special dirty

old man net held on ATN. And how do you find three

guys that are willing to sink so low as to have these

kind of conversations on ATV.

One of the guys that were involved in this event was

Dave KA6DPS the ATN-CA Head Control Operator. And

one of the guys was Bill KF6GJH.

I haven't visited the ATN stream until I started reading

about the things going on rescently. I have been a

subscriber of the ATV Newsletter for only about a year

so I took your inventation and tuned in again. And there

was Dave a Bill but this time they wern't talking about

the Purse. Bill was looking for his downconverter and

said when he finds it he will be twisting Nobs like it's

your first date. And he could't find his remote control

and he said it's like going to the bathroom and you can't

find the corn cob. Every topic turned into something

sexual or off color. Really very sick stuff. And it was

just like you said in your newsletter, Dave laughed

and laughed.

The owner of the ATN repeaters has either lost control

or has never had any control of his repeaters, or he is

part of the problem. At any rate the resposability

rests on his sholders.

Thank you for your email. I did see the Purse incedent but

I thank you for recounting it. It was part of a special edition

I sent out a couple years ago about a bunch of incedents.

Incendents that I had been reporting to Mike Collis so

he was informed about what was going on, on his repeaters.

The Editor

^ Shame on You

Shame on Bill.

Shame on Dave

And most of all Shame on Mike and ATN for letting this

happen for so many years.

Stop it!

Peeking in the Window

I remember reading something about a guy in

Southern California that didn't  like the streaming

video on the ATN-CA repeaters. He said everytime

he keyed-up his transmitter he thought that someone

was peeking in his bedroom window.

Now we have all seen what he didn't want us to see.

What do you do?

To Mike Collis: Do you allow people that don't have

a Amateur Radio License operate on your ATN-CA

ATV repeaters?

And if your answer is no, how would you stop them?

I will print your letter but don't expect a reply from Mike.

Several months ago Mike imposed a News Blackout with

me promising that he will never ever send me any news

about ATN ever again.

But your question is a very good question.

The Editor

Can you say this on ATV

I have seen one of the Ham on ATN says "Can you say ------

on ATV", many many times.

Here is a few examples of what I mean.

Can you say erection on ATV.

Can you say two men got together and enjoyed

themselves on ATV.

Can you say penis on ATV.

Someone should tell him he isn't funny.
