ATV Globe Trotter

By Mario, KD6ILO:

First, thanks to all the Amateur Radio Television repeater

groups who welcome me and so many others to join in their

activities via local RF links or via the BATC.TV video streams

or other streaming media linking or supporting amateur TV

world wide. I have learned so much from each of you and

your members and have made many new friends for life.

Second, I had a very great week joining in with some of you

talking technical Q & A, sharing those video logs of local

events happening thousands of miles away. So take care

and 73 to all,

"We will see you soon on Amatuer Radio Television".

Saturday June 12th 2010 @ 11AM PT.  A+

It started out just being a small group of us Ed, WB2QHS,

myself KD6ILO and Mike, KB7WUK it almost ended early

but went the full hour. But soon enough we had Ken,

KA7OSM, Dave, KA7WOF and Glenn, KJ7SU join in. Ed

showed a live event in progress of the "Garden Floral Parade"

in Portland, Oregon between check ins. Mike, KB7WUK

had some repairs done to his transmit and receive antennas

after a tree fell and damaged them. He came up with some

good video sent to the repeater that Saturday "good job Mike"

nice to see your back up on the air. Ken and I came in to the

repeater via Ed, WB2QHS via Skype I showed off my 70cm and 23cm set-up for my Subaru

Impreza Outback Sport I will give a close-up of it on our

next net on Monday night at 7PM. Most of the members

were away as the weather was excellent in the 80s' very

sunny in Oregon and they took atvantage of the weather

to take care of other things don't blame them at all.

Saturday June 12th 2010 @ 12PM PT.  A++

The "^ 2010 BATC Summer Fun Contest" was well on its

way Angus, M0IKB was relaying information to the KM

batc chat room stream of the activity happening in the

field as no video was being sent to the KM repeater.

M0IKB was in contact with Rob, M0DTS who was doing

very well with multiplier contacts on 23cm, 13cm and

70cm. Infact M0IKB had a great receive signal from Rob

on 23cm with a home made 23cm antenna he made.

Terry, G1LPS was also out their contesting but we did

not get any repeorts on his efforts in the contest, I heard

from him as he was closing station for the evening. I

guess we will see some recorded video from them soon

on a future net of the contest I'm looking forward to it.

 Check ins were; M0IKB, KD6ILO and G1LPS.

Saturday June 12th 2010 @ 3PM PT.  A+

Some activity on the repeater with Dave, G8ADM, Dave

M0SAT, G0MNI and Russell, G7RZF. Russell was

showing video as pilot in command of a Cessna aircraft

at a small English GA airport video was very good, audio

as well, nice flying Russell. I just dropped in to say hello

to the group as I always do on a  weekly bases. Check

ins; KD6ILO, G8ADM, M0SAT, G0MNI, and G7RZF.

^ W6CX ATV Group

Sunday June 13th 2010 @ 8PM PT.

There was no net just the guys checking in to the repeater

discussing virus topics all with great P5 pictures. Repeater

check ins; W6HUY, WB6ASU, W8DOD, KB6T (KD6ILO

in the batc chat room).

^ GB3KM ATV Group

Monday June 14th 2010 @ 11AM PT.  A++

A small group get together after a weekend working portable

ATV for two days. Rob, M0DTS did very well with miltipler

contacts on 70cm, 13cm and 23cm for the "Summer Fun

2010" ATV event. M0IKB and M0DTS were discussing virus

technical issues. Check ins were; M0DTS, M0IKB, G1LPS,

^ GB3BH ATV Group

Monday June 14th 2010 @ 12PM PT.  A++

Awsome net that afternoon with the gang!  Great get together

with the BH group as some good technical issues were

discussed and some radio toys showed off by Dave, M0SAT,

this guy always makes me laugh with his way around his

shack and comments on subject matters. We also got to

see a presentation on the call sign change concerning the

ISS AR1SSat-1 to RS01S. Check ins were; G7RZF, G8ADM,

^ GB3IV ATV Group

"Scotts Net"  Monday June 14th 2010 @ 1PM PT. A++

A very large turn out by this ATV group, very great paticipation

and interaction by all on virus technical subjects. After that

was done one member help other with setting up his satellite

receiver, settting up for its' opreation as he sent PC video over

the repeater so he could see the results and made sure it

was set right. Thats' a good reason for having ATV in the

shack. Check ins were; G0HAT, G3KZU, G3NZL, G3PYB,

6 guest no call or names posted.

^ W7AMQ ATV Group

Monday June 14th 2010 @ 7PM PT.  A++

This was a great net for the repeater group and guest on

batc tv.  Mike, N6BYH in Fresno California and Ed,

WB2QHS in Portland Oregon linked together W7AMQ

and N6BYH repeaters for one of the best video link-ups

I've seen. Video was P5 from Fresno with perfect audio

to match without skipping a beat. Mike was in his mobile

as he always is with that perfect P5 picture talking about

linking repeaters via the internet and looking for a better

solution of doing so besides having someone doing it at

the shack. There is a way in more ways then one, it would

be better if all intrested would hold a net again about the

subject. Because I have my way of doing it because I have

tryed it with the help of Echolink with my portable repeater.

But thats for other time and newsletter. We also had chats

about trains and expert Mike, KB7WUK is the subject

matter "Guru". Carl, NB7C, well it made his evening as

he is a model railroad dude in Idaho. Here were the

check ins that evening;

Tuesday June 15th 2010 @ 7:30PM PT.

*** Did not participate or view net due to family visiting

that evening ***

^ GB3KM ATV Group

Thursday June 17th 2010 @ 3PM PT.  A++

great video log of the events that happened that weekend.

He did very well on 13cm, 70cm and 23cm. Checkins

were; M0DTS, G0UHY, G4FVP, G8ADM, G0ATW,
