Send me your D-ATV News..

ATV Globe Trotter

By Mario, KD6ILO

Hi Bryon,

It was a fantistic week for ATV for me making my

rounds here in the US and across the big pond to

England. Both the GB3KM and GB3BH nets were

great had a chance to be on the KM net with Rob,

M0DTS and the rest of their group and also the

BH group with a great program and video pictures

sent by other BH members were owsome.

Follow my reports below.

73 and see you all later!

W6ATN Special from Dayton OH

Friday May 14th 2010.

There was a special live video feed sent to AC6RB's

Internet repeater input via Don, KE6BXT using

VZOChat  then sent to Santiago Peaks input on

2441.5 MHz from Dayton, OH at 12PM PT. The

group was pretty large at a dinner gathering for

ATV operators that attended the Dayton

Hamvention 2010. ATN President Don, KE6BXT,

Mike, WA6SVT and Rod, WB9KMO were present

from ATN California. The video pictures were

great but their was a problem with the audio due

to a bad PC microphone. But the gathering was

productive it seems. It looked like Rod, WB9KMO

was recording the event so we may see and

hear the event over the ATN ATV network again?

Participates were;

^ Net Control/Link Controller : AC6RB

Via Santiago Peak: KA6DPS, W6KGE

Saturday May 15th 2010 12PM PT.

Just a small group gathering for a formal net.

Participates were;

W6CX ATV Group Net

Saturday May 15th 2010 8PM PT.

Small group get together discussing different topics.

GB3KM ATV Group Net

Sunday May 16th 2010 3PM PT.

This group always has a great program with lots

of technical talk and video.

W7ATV AZ Group Net

Sunday May 16th 2010 7:30PM PT.

Other great net with good participation from the

group. Pictures were good but the audio from the

BATC stream was choppy I missed a lot of the

conversations and participating station call

signs here are the stations I got listed.

W7AMQ ATV Net Portland OR for

Monday May 17th 2010.

Program "Show and Tell Tour W7AMQ Repeater

Tour and KD6ILO Repeater".

Again this was a great net from our friends in the

Pacific NW thanks to Dennis, WA7DRO I had

the chance to be linked to the repeaters input

so I could participate live via my batc member

stream and address the group and conduct a

show and tell of my repeater. We also got a

video tour of the W7AMQ repeater site. KC9PNN,

Tim who is a new ham operator is now very

interested in ATV because of programs like

these and we look forwarded to seeing him

on soon we will be waiting Tim. The pictures

through the repeater are always P4 or better

great engineering from the teams group. here

are the check ins if I missed anyone please

let me know on the next net 73;

Great net see you all again soon

73! Mario, KD6ILO San Diego ATV.

W6ATN Tuesday Night Net for

May 18th 2010 7:30PM.

I was not available to participate on the net that

evening as I was involved in a communications

exercise here in San Diego pretty much all day

and was tired and turned in early. But I did video

record the net via BATC stream Don, KE6BXT

and Gordo,WB6NOA back from Dayton,OH

talked about video and photos they will share

on the next net. Heard also that most stations

transmitting had great P5 pictures.

Checkins were;

GB3KM ATV Net for

Weduesday May 19th 2010 3PM PT.

It was other great net with the KM ATV group.

My batc video stream was patched over to one

of the repeaters inputs by Terry, G1LPS and I

got on the air on 2.440 Ghz and 10.065 Ghz on

the local repeater outputs. The weather there

was much warmer than San Diego and I got to

wish Clive, G4FVP a Happy Birthday. They are

a great group of operators always intresting

topics on the net. Rob, M0DTS was net control

for the group all the pictures were P5. The

engineering of their repeater network is one of

the best I've seen the pictures never seem to

be less than a P4. It was a small group but

what a net. The repeater is a multi input repeater

my video was on one of those inputs on

2.328 Ghz via Terry so we could  each see our

pictures on a quad image. Rob was on one input,

Clive was on other, I was on the third and the

forth input was open.

Net Participates were;

(NC) M0DTS - Rob

G1LPS - Terry

G4FVP - Clive

KD6ILO - Mario via G1LPS

 GB3BH ATV Group Net for

Thursday May 20th 2010 at 12PM PT.

This was other great net from over the pond in

England. The video from all stations were ow

some. Russell, G2RZF's project on the net was

modifying an old 2m to 70cm transverter to

convert digital ATV up to 70cm 436 MHz. Also

pictures were sent from Arthur, GB3TZ from

Hermel Hempstead 10 miles north of the repeater

he was transmitting on 13cm analogue and 70cm

digital showing his nice backyard with nicely

placed fountain in the back ground great P5 video.

Also showing was a ballon launch using a teddy

bear carrying a ATV payload in to space done by

two university students. If you have the time please

check in its' worth it. Thanks guys for other great

presentation. The GB3BH 3cm and 13cm ATV

repeater is located in Bushey Heath north of

Here were the check ins for the net;

^ Looking for:

Hi Friends , i have a old JVC TM 22EK field

monitor which is 240 volt and 12 volt but alas

i cannot find on the internet a connector din

plug for this, nor any information about this

din plug power cable, now i know i used to

have one when i was back in Bristol 10 years

ago but alas time and the move  have

somehow lost it, Now i am EMailing all my

friends to see if you know or possibly have

a din plug wired or otherwise or any info as

to where i can obtain one.

I have tried to see if i could hard wire it but

it has this strange arangement where it can

charge the battery at same time and its not

simple to get at or remove the din for me

to hard wire.

Well you know how bad i am at internal

wiring haha.. anyway if anyone has any

info or a wired plug lying around or know

where i can get one  i would be very

grateful...Many thanks

If you can help Phil out send send an email to and I will pass it along

to him

Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters

1. Establish link from Mt. Potosi

2. Repair 900 MHz output transmitter and reinstall

3. Get repeater back on the air.
Mt  Wilson:

Saw testing on 3/21/10.on 434 MHz and it was working
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a

good idea to sweep the 1200 MHz antenna at the same

    time as well.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Find intermittent receive problem for link from Oat Mtn..(1/24/09)

4. Resolve problems with WiFi getting into receiver for Snow Peak

    & Point Loma (April 28, 2009)

Snow Peak:

1. 2.4 Ghz input is operational but has audio problems due to

receiver problems on the network hub.. July 23, 2009

2. The 1200 MHz output does work and you can watch.

3. Get repeater back on the air.

Point Loma, W6RDF: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

   Trustee Robert Swain, KA4JSR

1. Off the air do to AC problems at the shack.

2. 434 input unuseable (4/03.01)
