TV studio cameras weighed, survive

temperatures ranging from 250 degrees

to minus 300 degrees Fahrenheit, and

withstand a liftoff pressure of eight

times the force of gravity. Oh, and it had

to operate without a backup - 240,000

miles from home base. Perhaps the sad

thing was that we have never seen fully

what this camera was capable of see the

Technology is once again on the move

and has resulted in an ATV repeater

DB0DLH with a skype input. This

is an interesting development and

yet another merge in the technology

between internet and ATV.

^ Testing the W6HHC

DATV Station

Here is an email from Ken, and thank you for keeping

us all informed:

Hi Bryon N6IFU,

Just an update to let you know that Robbie-KB6CJZ and I

have just completed another DATV article for the March

issue of our local OCARC newsletter.
The article is titled:

^ TechTalk83 – DATV Testing Report –

Part 3 (Bench Testing)

This article describes the results of testing the two new

1.2 GHz amplifiers that just came in to allow the completion

of the W6HHC DATV station. In addition, both Robbie and

I have learned a lot about DATV latency delays and DATV

video resolution choices since we first started testing the

DATV exciter last fall (see TechTalk77).  Also, through the

kind efforts of Hans Hass DC8UE (Hamburg) the article is

also translated into German.

Both files (English and German) can be found on the

OCARC web site at:

            www.W6ZE.org/DATV/

I hope this information may be of interest to those readers

thinking about moving from analog-ATV to digital-ATV.

Best regards....from Ken W6HHC

^ MEP Update

MEP has obtained the use of an XtremeDSP

FPGA development kit from Qualcomm. This

long-term loan of a Virtex II-based FPGA

kit will enable work to begin on a broadband

modem for amateur radio microwave stations.

The station is reachable remotely, so if

you would like to participate, you can

load up your bit file over the internet

and run your part of the project.

^ 3 GHz Transmitter

New "OUTPUT"

I saw the 3GHz output transmitter for Oat Mtn. shown on the

air this week. W6KGE was holding it up to the camera and it

sure looked nice. Bob, W6KGE always does excellent work on

everything he builds for ATV and I'm sure this new transmitter

wont be any different.

When the 3 GHZ transmitter is installed Oat Mtn. will have

two output frequencies. The 3 GHz FM and the 919.25 MHz

VSB output which has been under increasing attack from QRM

from almost everything.

Two skeletons used by the professor of anatomy found
themselves stowed away in a dusty closet. After several

"Got me," admitted his companion. "If we had any guts
we'd bust out of here."

Conditions on Santiago Peak

I heard Dave. KA6DPS talking to Bill, KF6GJH on Thursday

evening and Dave said that the repeater link wasn't good

because he couldn't hear anything that Bill was saying. I

was able to copy Bill here on Oat Mtn. P5 and the audio

was normal for Bill.

Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters
________________________________________
Blueridge:

1. Establish link from Mt. Potosi

2. Repair 900 MHz output transmitter and reinstall

3. Get repeater back on the air.
Mt  Wilson:

No one using Mt. Wilson at this time, condition unknown.
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a

good idea to sweep the 1200 MHz antenna at the same

    time as well.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Find intermittent receive problem for link from Oat Mtn..(1/24/09)

4. Resolve problems with WiFi getting into receiver for Snow Peak

    & Point Loma (April 28, 2009)

Snow Peak:

1. 2.4 Ghz input is operational but has audio problems due to

receiver problems on the network hub.. July 23, 2009

2. The 1200 MHz output does work and you can watch.

3. Get repeater back on the air.

Point Loma, W6RDF: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

   Trustee Robert Swain, KA4JSR

1. Off the air do to AC problems at the shack.
