MEP Update (digital ATV)

We're putting the beagleboards together with Linksys routers

(WRT54GLs running OpenWRT) and experimenting with that

combination for mobile MEPs. This is 2.4 GHz instead of our

desired 3.4/5.8GHz full duplex plan, but will allow for easier

and cheaper development of the software on the TI OMAP.

Another area of activity - we released version 5 (and possibly

the final version) of a tutorial commentary on the NEON

processor test code. The NEON processor is a SIMD

(single instruction multiple data) coprocessor that is

included in the TI OMAP chip we're developing with. This

document allows people interested in coding for the NEON

processor to become more familiar with the basics of

optimizing code for the NEON processor. The NEON

instruction set is an extension of the ARM instruction set.

Give Mike a Break

Mike Collis, WA6SVT has asked all the ATN Members that

wish to renew their membership mail the donations to him

prior to the Winter Meeting later this month. Reason being

it will give him more time to work out the financial statement

before the meeting.

In the past twelve to fifteen years it has been the norm that

everyone came to the meeting and pays their dues. Now

Mike is asking for extra time to fulfill his duty as the

Secretary/Treasurer of the ATN.

Please give Mike a break and help him out with all the things

he has on his plate. Mike holds a full time job, runs the Amateur

Television Quarterly Publication, Family and Church time,

finishing building his new house, repairs and builds most of the

equipment for ATN. Mike doesn't need the additional pressure

of the office of Secretary/Treasurer.

At this years Winter Meeting I would hope that the members

ask the Board of Directors to appoint a new Secretary/Treasurer

so Mike's work load can be reduced. Give Mike a Break!

The Board of Directors are the elected President, the elected

Vice President and Rod Fritz, WB9KMO.

^ ATN Repeater Status

It was announced on the Net this week that Santa Barbara,

Snow Peak and Blueridge ATN repeaters are not working.

And that no one was using Mt. Wilson. So that leaves only

Santiago Peak and Oat Mtn. in working order.

There was no mention of the Point Loma repeater located

in San Diego. In fact there hasn't been mention of Point

Loma in months. And there are rumors that Point Loma

has gone the way of the Mt. Palomar ATV repeater.

The Point Loma ATV repeater is owned by the club on the

Military Base and the Trustee is Robert Swain KA4JSR.

I don't think there is a problem. Robert told me that there

was a problem with the AC at the repeater's shack and

they were waiting for the problem to be resolved.

Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters

1. Establish link from Mt. Potosi

2. Repair 900 MHz output transmitter and reinstall

3. Get repeater back on the air.
Mt  Wilson:

No one using Mt. Wilson at this time, condition unknown.
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a

good idea to sweep the 1200 MHz antenna at the same

    time as well.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Find intermittent receive problem for link from Oat Mtn..(1/24/09)

4. Resolve problems with WiFi getting into receiver for Snow Peak

    & Point Loma (April 28, 2009)

Snow Peak:

1. 2.4 Ghz input is operational but has audio problems due to

receiver problems on the network hub.. July 23, 2009

2. The 1200 MHz output does work and you can watch.

3. Get repeater back on the air.

Point Loma, W6RDF: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

   Trustee Robert Swain, KA4JSR

1. Off the air do to AC problems at the shack.

Mount Potosi:
