Nick, N6QQQ Making

Steady Progress Twards

DATV Repeater

Email from W6HHC:

Hi Bryon N6IFU,

Just a note that I recently exchanged some e-mails with

Nick Sayer N6QQQ to follow-up on the progress of his

DATV repeater preparations. I am happy to report that

Nick is making steady progress towards getting his

DATV repeater running.

Nick has set up a web site   www.N6QQQ.org

for his repeater that will use the call letters  N6QQQ/R

On his web site he has a video that shows him “bench testing”

all the components to be used at the DATV repeater site

(in the hills a few miles East of San Jose, California) and

at his home DATV station. To the best of my knowledge,

when Nick gets N6QQQ/R on the air, he will be operating

the second active DATV repeater in the United States.

I thought you and your readers might be interested.

^ Digital ATV

in Southern California

Last year at the Winter Meeting for the ATN some of you

heard Mike Collis make comments about a Digital transmitter

he had installed on Santiago. And if you wanted to experiment

with to let him know and he would turn it on. Mike told me

six to eight months ago that he said nothing like this at the

meeting.

Mike Collis went on to tell me that he had no plans to add

Digital ATV to his repeaters. And if he did he would place a

Digital Transmitter on Mt. Wilson and not Santiago because

no one was using the repeater on Wilson.

As for the "METS" group, I am not aware of any plans to

add Digital ATV to their system but would be interested

in hearing about any plans.

The ^ Palomar Amateur Radio Club is making plans to bring

it's ATV Repeater back on line with "High Definition" and hope

to be able to pass some news along about their plans as soon

as I get it.

Santiago Problem?

Last weekend I saw on of the control operators comment

on problems on the 1200 MHz output. He said that there

was interference that he had never seen before on Sat. and

Sunday. Then I received an email from Al, W6WYN in San

Diego. Here is Al's email:

Hi Bryon what is wrong with Santiago I have no signal on

1200 Is it me or do they have a problem on the hill. Miss

you on the band in reading the Newsletter I can see you

don't have much time for idol chatter.73, Al W6WYN

While the control operator was making comments about

the interference I wasn't able to see any problem coming

to Oat Mtn..

Maybe this is a local problem for the control operator. Or

it might be his equipment.

Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters
________________________________________
Blueridge:

1. Establish link from Mt. Potosi

2. Repair 900 MHz output transmitter and reinstall
Mt. Wilson:

No one using Mt. Wilson at this time, condition unknown.
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a

good idea to sweep the 1200 MHz antenna at the same

    time as well.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Find intermittent receive problem for link from Oat Mtn..(1/24/09)

4. Resolve problems with WiFi getting into receiver for Snow Peak

    & Point Loma (April 28, 2009)

Snow Peak:

1. 2.4 Ghz input is operational but has audio problems due to

receiver problems on the network hub.. July 23, 2009

2. The 1200 MHz output does work and you can watch.

Point Loma, W6RDF: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

   Trustee Robert Swain, KA4JSR

1. Off the air do to AC problems at the shack.

Mount Potosi:
