receive antennas for both locations.

We are working out the details to install a

transmitter pointed at the Santa Barbara site

to allow Santa Barbara to receive Oat through

the link.  There is no target date for completion.

We will continue to use the existing Santa

Barbara to Santiago TX/RX link and will give

priority to the best signal received in Santa

Interest in ATV has notably increased in Santa

Barbara since the Convention and we anticipate

three new ATV users in the next few months.

Oat Mtn. News

Oats OK, but

Oat Mtn. is working fine with all things being considered

but it has been noted that the two meter talk-in freq. of

146.43 MHz with a PL of 100 Hz does have some problems.

ATVers on Oat have noticed that they are unable to get

into the repeater from time to time with the normal power

settings that they have relied on before. Normally using

5 watts may not work and the power may need to be

increased to 50 watts to get in.

The problem has been added to the list of things to check on

during the next service call to the repeater.

A young man was walking past a blind woman using a cane on
a street corner downtown, when she said, "Excuse me, but
if it's not too much trouble, can you see me across the

Our guy replied, "Just a minute."

He walked across the street, looked back and yelled, "Yes,
I can see you!"

Santiago Peak Still Sick

The Santiago Peak repeater still is without a 2.4 GHz input

for ATVers.

I haven't heard of any plans for a service call to the repeater

to check it out and see what the problem is. Normally, Mike

Collis is there within a couple days but I guess the holidays

have kept him away.

I have heard some say that they think the the controller has

finally died and it is the problem.

I heard from another ATVer that thinks the problem is part

of the problem that we had earlier with the TV Station getting

into the repeater and keying it on and off. And the signal is

now constant and has captured the repeater and rendered

the 2.4 GHz input useless.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

^ ATN-CA Repeater Report

Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters

1. Establish link from Mt. Potosi
Mt. Wilson:
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a

good idea to sweep the 1200 MHz antenna at the same

    time as well.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Find intermittent receive problem for link from Oat Mtn..(1/24/09)

4. Resolve problems with WiFi getting into receiver for Snow Peak

    & Point Loma (April 28, 2009)

5. Install new 5 GHz transmitter once it is repaired (3/10/09)

Snow Peak:

1. 2.4 Ghz input is operational but has audio problems due to

receiver problems on the network hub.. July 23, 2009

2. The 1200 MHz output does work and you can watch.

Point Loma, W6RDF: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

   Trustee Robert Swain, KA4JSR

1. Off the air do to AC problems at the shack.
