World News this Week

__________________________________________________________

W6ORG, Tom

I had a short QSO with Tom on the ATN-CA repeaters on

Monday afternoon. Tom had done some antenna work and

was testing his ATV System.

Tom mentioned that he works into the METS repeaters,

Sierra and Sunset, as well as Santiago Peak. He was

operating on 434 MHz with an output of about 40 watts

peak into a vertical antenna.

I have seen Tom from time to time over the years I have

been involved in ATV but was never able to work him.

I hope to see Tom on ATV more in the future. FYI, Tom is

the the owner of "P.C. Electronics."

^ Message from WX6DX, Ed

Hi Bryon,

Hope you had a great holiday.  I had a business trip to

Japan during the holidats and because of the time difference

and work, I could not attand the meetings even via the Internet.

Ever since I have been try to catch up and the ATV reapeater

on Santiago has been down, but I will be there this week if

the repeater is up.

Gene K6BNN was a big help and made arrangements for

me to buy a C band feed and converter for METS.
He also

loaned me a receiver until I modify the one I have so I could

be up on METS this Monday.  No I am not jumping ship

from ATN to METS.  I want to get up on METS because I

found out that the San Diego Microwave Society meetings

are on the air every Monday, except possibly the 3rd

Monday, at 9:00. I will try to find out more about the METS

calendar so I can forward it to you in case you want to fold

it into the ATV calendar.

Well take care and hope to see you on the air.

'73s  Ed  WX6DX

*******************

Thank you Ed for keeping me up to date. And yes to the

San Diego Microwave Society Meeting, please get me the

info and I will include it in the ATV Guide. Please let me

know their website address and I will add it to the ATV

Website Guide.

Maybe we can get METS to stream their repeater during

the meetings.

The streaming video service for STG's GB3ZZ

^ Proposed Changes Rejected

I received an email from Don, KE6BXT Pres. of ATN-CA

that informed me that the proposed changes to the clubs

constitution had been rejected because the format of

my proposals did not meet the standard required for

Constitution and By Laws changes.

So the club members will not have the proposals listed on the

Winter ATN-CA Meeting Agenda and they will not be able to

discuss the topics and vote on them.

I am unable to find any rules in the Constitution and By Laws

and I was only following the example set by WA6SVT during

the Summer Meeting when he proposed that the Secretary Officer

be split from the Treasurer officer. And that the Secretary become

a voted officer instead of appointed.

ATN-CA Repeater Report

Repairs on Santiago Peak

Repairs on Santiago Peak were affected last Friday

about one and a half hours after I sent out last weeks

Newsletter.

The link from Oat Mtn. was also repaired but it broke

down again. I noticed it wasn't working on Thursday.

________________________________________
Repairs Needed for the ATN-CA Repeaters
________________________________________
Blueridge:

Mt. Wilson:
1. Install 2.4 GHz Receiver ????
2. Build and install 2.4 GHz receiver for link from Blueridge (on hold 5/5/08)
3. Might need an additional port on the controller????
Oat Mtn.:
1. Replace plastic wire ties with appropriate fasteners.
2. Tune 2.4 GHz link dipole for better SWR. It would be a good idea to sweep the

1200 MHz antenna at the same time as well.
Santiago Peak:
1. Remove KC6UQH's call and Palomar from the W6ATN

repeaters ID's (late spring early summer 08 when the new controller is installed)
2. Look into weak signal getting into one of the inputs.

3. Reestableish Link from Oat Mtn.. (Jan. 8, 2009)
Snow Peak:

1. Repair noise problem on audio.

Point Loma: No Repairs Needed/Fully Operational

Mount Potosi:
